Elders Responsibility:
1st Timothy 4:6 Elders/brothers need to be nourished in word of faith and good doctrine. Elders are expected to balance conversation, with purity and faith as a witness of Jesus Christ and His life. Ref: 2nd Timothy 2:15, 2:2, 2:3, as well as 1st Timothy 5:21 6:13 and 14.
1. Study the Word of God.
2. Be faithful to the knowledge of the word of God in our own lives. When we are faithful, the Holy Spirit will honor our preaching.
3. In 2nd Timothy 2:2,3 tells us that as Elders, we need good discernment and as a solder, we need to suffer for our lord in His work.
4. We need to have His mind, His love in our lives to endure people’s rejecting. 1st Timothy 5:21 tells us as Elders we can not show partiality. We need the Holy Spirit’s guidance and patience to deal with people.
5. 2nd Timothy 2:24, 26. By spending time in the word of God . God will thereby train us in His ways. We Should pray for patience and meekness to deal with all kinds of people. God wants to use us to reach the unsaved and this can only happen with the Holy Spirit living in us. We need to have God-Given Humility as did Jesus.
1st Timothy 5:20 We have to tell people if they are living in SIN in order that they may have fear of God. 1st Timothy 3:1 to 7, In this portion of scripture, God is asking us to have these characteristics to be an Elder. Blameless means approved in God’s sight, walking obediently to the word of God. Vigilant means taking care of how we live to be pleasing to the Lord. We must have a deeper life in the Lord Jesus and be dependent on the Holy Spirit and be a sober, patient person. God disciplines us in order that we become more Christlike in our Life.
